UAA Hosts TED Talk

Urban Action Academy Hosts TED Talk: "Know Your Rights"
25 students from UAA and Brooklyn School for Career Development (BSCD) participated in the first TED Talk Series, "Know Your Rights" at Urban Action Academy on Thursday, March 29, 2018. DOE Trial Attorney Ms. Catherine Sam engaged  students in a meaningful conversation about the 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments to the United States Constitution. One female student shared with participants a copy of the Constitution, which she carries in her backpack along with her chemistry and Global History textbooks.

Students also participated in several role plays that simulate police encounters, with Ms. Sam's guidance. Students left the TED Talk equipped with knowing  the four (4) basic steps to take during a police encounter.

In a message to Principal Steve Dorcely, Ms. Sam said the following about the event:

Term 1 Honor Roll Luncheon

Congratulations to our Term 1 Honor Roll Students! Students who received a minimum 80% average with no grade under 80% in six classes were honored by Principal Dorcely on March 28 during a special luncheon in the Principal's Conference Room.
Congratulations to the following students:
Grade 10: Monique Williams
Grade 11: Necker Dorlice, Neyssa Dorlice, Tamia Ellison, Nicholas Fraser, and Kenyon Simon

Grade 12: Norma-Lee Ali, Jovenska Bernardin, Ronaldo Boswell, Deandre Davis, Aneisha John, Arielle Jolivert, Ebony Lewis, and Ashley Peren.

School Closed Due To Snow

School is cancelled today, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 due to the anticipated snow storm.

We will be monitoring the situation closely. Check back here or follow @NYCSchools on Twitter for updates. The SAT exam scheduled for 11th graders for today are postponed until Tuesday, April 24.
